When Handcrafted Meets Luxury: Japanese Washi Paper- Best Paper Investment

Handcrafted Meets Luxury: Japanese Washi Paper- Best Paper Investment

Thank you for visiting Have Faith Stationery, in today’s blog article I will be sharing with you my experience with Japanese Washi Paper and a short video showing you the process of how Japanese Washi Paper is made. Please make sure to watch the entire video. In my opinion the process is incredible and the investment has been worth it.

At the very beginning of my paper crafting and stationery journey; I was stationed overseas in Okinawa, Japan. You can read all about The Beginnings of Have Faith Stationery in one of my earlier blog articles. During my stay overseas, I met this wonderful and delightful Japanese shop owner who made traditional Geisha Obi’s for home decor and traditional wear. She carried the most luxurious textiles and papers I have ever seen in person. I can’t remember the name of her Boutique, however; she would have the cutest little Geisha origami greeting cards and stationery accessories along side of her handmade Geisha Obi dresses and home decor. I would visit her often and ask her about how she began making Obi’s. When she found out I created stationery with my Cricut she recommended that I invest in traditional Japanese Washi Paper and encouraged me to continue the art of paper making. This wonderful woman would share her life with me about how she started growing her handmade business and the connections she made with handcrafted artisans who painted these beautiful designs on the Washi Paper.

Paper making

Whether it is the process of making paper or paper crafting; this unique skill that starts off as a hobby becomes the livelihood for many. For many it can be the means to feed an entire family or a way to pass down skills for a future generation to survive.  God gives us gifts in all different forms to make up the body of Christ so that we serve one another in love. The investment I have made in purchasing these handcrafted papers, helped a community of people feed their family and pass down a skill for their legacy. How cool is that!

The connections we make when discussing life are memorable and worth cherishing.

I prayed through the paper cutting process, there were times I wanted to cry.

Before leaving Japan, I purposely invested in as much Japanese Washi Paper that I could afford at the time. The sheets are long and so beautiful. It took me a very LONG time ( years to be exact) to cut into the papers to make them more manageable to create with. I suppose I held onto these papers because I had such profound experiences in Okinawa, Japan – and- they are designed so beautifully. I prayed through the cutting process of these gorgeous designs and I have appreciated all the hard work that goes into the process of making Washi Paper.

What I Have Made with Washi Paper

When I first started using these papers I focused on Washi pencil’s, after a few test runs I decided that although they were nothing short of AMAZING- the pencil sharpeners would become dull after a few sharpens and it didn’t produce the quality results I hoped for.

I now focus most of my attention to making Japanese Stationery, Note Cards, Gift Tags, and Journals. Here are a few amazing samples of some items I created.

Eventually, these Japanese Washi Papers will need to be replenished, at that time I will showcase new designs and projects. For more ideas please visit my Portfolio Page

Pro Stationery Tip

When using Washi Paper be careful when handling this delicate paper. It tears very easily so use the sharpest scissors you have and go slow. Liquid Glue goes a long way, test a small amount on a scrap piece before completing a final project. I found that dry adhesive works best for me.

If you are cutting with the Cricut test several pieces of scrap before completing your project. Not all papers are the same thickness or quality so check the pressure settings. Too much pressure may either cut the paper too deeply causing a tear  and  too light of pressure may give the paper a kiss cut where the design doesn’t cut through at all.

I have experienced both and it is frustrating so take your time and walk away if you need to. There is always time to craft and figure out the settings later.

In the following video you will watch the process from start to finish on how Japanese Washi Paper is made and how this process brings community together. Although I have not met the original artists from which I purchased my Japanese Washi Paper from, I have enjoyed the luxurious feel of each sheet I have invested in.

New Feature for Have Faith Stationery

Today’s blog article discusses the fundamentals of biblical giving as well as explaining the newest feature on Have Faith Stationery website.  I have been paper crafting and an artist for many years, as a Born-again Christian I saw a need in this arena that needed to be filled and therefore I have stepped up to provide it. There are many  who choose to mix and match beliefs about Christianity with other religions and put Jesus Christ’s name on it.  The more I read the Bible and spend time with the Lord Himself the more I want to provide biblical creative alternatives to some of the stationery and paper crafting genre’ are being categorized as “Christian” but are actually not.

I enjoy transparency and honesty so I am sharing with you upfront about my decisions for Have Faith Stationery.

The sole reason this website and blog exists is for your benefit.

From time to time I will be sharing content that features products I already own. The original plan was to become an affiliate to pay for the resources I need to continue the website. Although I have considered becoming an affiliate for some of these tools; I have chosen not to participate in affiliate programs.

Here’s why

The Lord was working on my heart regarding these matters because to Him what I am involved in is important. The Lord gives us all equal amounts of time to do the things we need to do in this life time. We can not save the time we receive from the Lord for some time later. What we spend our time on is important, let’s make what we do count for the Kingdom of God.

The Lord was showing me that I want to focus only on the plan and purpose. He was also showing me how I can access the biblical principle of sowing and reaping ( giving and receiving financially).

Becoming a product influencer may hinder me from focusing on the intended purpose of this website.

“Sow Seeds of Faith & Make Lasting Impression to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ”

It is my hope to have established an online presence where I provide both free biblical stationery content through blogging and a shop to provide my handcrafted stationery to support the mission field.

Your financial support helps me continue to share biblical content through paper crafting on this platform.  Any amount you give you are sowing into the growing of this card ministry and helping the efforts to expand the Kingdom of God.

New Features for HFSCARDS

Today I am delighted to share with you a new feature for Have Faith Stationery.

As part of an ongoing effort to expand the Gospel of Jesus Christ through stationery. I accept donations for the continuation of website operations through PayPal.Me.  You can find this on the Menu called ” Donations.” Your financial support helps me continue to write on this platform and share Biblical content without being censored or compromising the mission. Not many people know this because it is rarely if at all discussed that Christians all over the world are being persecuted in some way or another (especially online). If you are a Christian you have probably have experienced some level of persecution.

To ensure that I can continue to preach the Gospel through stationery online, there are several services that I have chosen to use to keep this site up and running without interruption. If you are interested in reviewing the services I use please feel free to contact me.

Tecarta Bible App

There are several verses in the Bible that explain the gift of sowing a reaping. (Giving is a gift that keeps on giving) The following verses really speaks volumes to me and I hope it helps you as you grow in your walk with God and may He bless you.

” Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you measure anything it shall be measured to you again.”-  Luke 6 : 38KJER

“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”- Philippians 4:19

Thank you for taking the time to read today’s blog article, entitled “New Features for Have Faith Stationery“. If you enjoy my online ministry, please consider donating and sharing this website with your family and friends. Your support and prayers help me tremendously.

This greeting card was created before there was Cricut Design Space; however, for all intent purposes I have added it to my digital content to make life easier on me as I grow my handcrafted stationery shop.

I have purposely left sizes up to you  just in case you are in a jam and don’t have all the materials needed to create the full project. You can either use pre-cut greeting cards and envelopes from your favorite company or card stock of your own. In the final project I have used both and they worked out fantastic!

Please Note: This project is for personal use only. Please refer to my terms and conditions tab for more information.

How Can You Love Yourself and Others in a Culture Obsessed with Material Wealth and Perfectionism?

How Can You Love Yourself and Others in a Culture Obsessed with Material Wealth and Perfectionism?

We live in a cultural time where most people are lovers of material things more than people. My family and I live as Biblical as we possibly can in an ever over-consuming world.  When we really like something we express how much we enjoy what the Good Lord provides. In the end, all of this stuff is just stuff – People are more important than stuff.  We make mistakes, we give each other grace, and we keep moving forward without condemnation. We are just doing our best not to be over consumed by loving things more than we love people.

I was inspired to write this because I believe through Christ I have overcome the obsession with perfectionism. I used to love things particularly creating art and having things look perfect more than loving God.  I am thankful that The Lord has mercy and saved my life from the emptiness that comes from loving things more than people. I am most certainly not where I would like to be, but Thank God I am not where I used to be in this area.

Remember materialism and perfectionism are the devils little foxes that spoil the vine. Please take note that the world’s definition of perfection and God’s definition of perfection are very different. Please do not make the same mistake I made and believe they both work together because they don’t. If you are interested in the subject, please take some time to look at the biblical definition of perfection and do a personal study on the matter.

After learning about this particular topic, my family and I have found out that loving material things more than God is considered idolatry and is not acceptable in the Kingdom of God. So we’ve settled with ourselves and each other to emphasize loving The Lord with all our hearts, mind, and souls- then love people as we love ourselves. Just because we’ve settled with this truth doesn’t mean we are good at putting this into action. This isn’t an over night thing, please really let that one sink in. Love doesn’t happen overnight and it’s not found in religion. Love is found in relationship. This kind of love takes time and it isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. I do believe that the heart of God;  just like every loving parent is more invested in the relationship than the outward results of behavior.

What Does Love Really Mean?

It truly takes the power of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit to really love..

Let’s take a moment to look at what Scripture says about love in 1 Corinthians 13

1 Corinthians 13 New Living Translation (NLT)

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. 3 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
8 Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! 9 Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! 10 But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless.
11 When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. 12 Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.
13 Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

So how can you love yourself and others in a biblical context while living in a culture that is obsessed with vanity, material wealth, and perfectionism?

The answer is still found in 1 Corinthians 13, it takes time and effort to love this way, but through the power of the Holy Spirit – this kind of love is perfected in Christ and obtainable. Hallelujah! I have not arrived but I am on the way.

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to really love God, love myself, and others. I really don’t want hit and miss results here.  I really want to love the way Jesus loves me.  So I began to pray about it. I have asked the Lord to help me articulate 1 Corinthians 13 into my every day life. Please take note this is a little reminder for me on how to love others on a moment to moment basis.  We all have our own interpretation of the word love based on experiences-So let’s all just keep growing towards the real definition of love from a biblical context. I  know that I am learning and growing in this area daily and as I grow- I am making many mistakes but God is so good He even makes my mistakes to prosper.

Please enjoy this free Scripture printable of 1 Corinthians 13

The Simplicity of loving yourself and others means

  • Renew your mind and keep it set on the finished work of Jesus Christ ( living from a place of the resurrection)
  • Guarding your heart above all else
  • Set healthy and realistic goals for yourself
  • Have healthy boundaries in place for everyone including yourself
  • Saying no more often ( let people experience disappointment, it will help them understand you are not a doormat)
  • Only committing yourself to what you can accomplish in each season of life.
  • Eat frequently, hydrate, and get plenty of rest ( No staying up late to craft)
  • Speak kindly to yourself and others even when things go unexpectedly
  • Have plenty of Do- overs ( in case you haven’t practiced this before a do over simply means- I messed up and I need to do that thing I should have done right over again)
  • Do not over work yourself ( do what you can with the time you have and save the rest for the next day)
  • Start doing one thing at a time, multi-tasking triggers frustration, anger, and isn’t bringing productivity.
  • Do not rush yourself on the account of someone else’s impatience.
  • Stay committed to the calling God has for you. Remain loyal, faithful, and trustworthy.

I hope this blog article about How Can You Love Yourself and Others in a Culture Obsessed with Material Wealth and Perfectionism has been insightful and a blessing to you. Please make sure to download your free copy of the Scripture art I have included with this post.

Many Blessings,

Sharing the Love of the Gospel Through Stationery-Why it Matters PT 1

Sharing the Love of the Gospel Through Stationery- Why it Matters PT 1

In last weeks blog article, I shared with you ” The Beginnings of Have Faith Stationery. ”

In today’s two part blog article series I will share with you my biggest reasons why I share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through stationery and paper crafting.

Creating stationery is more than just making things, its about creatively expressing a meaningful message to make a lasting impact on a person’s life.

My mentor and sister in the Lord says it quite beautifully

Words are powerful.
On  a card or out of your mouth.
The Gospel Shared is always a good thing.
It burns in my heart to share the Gospel Creatively.
Jesus is BIG into sharing by the written word.

Viewing Life & God's Creation from a Different Lens.

Viewing Life & God's Creation from a Different Lens

Sharing the Gospel Creatively

When I received the Holy Spirit, it was a life changing event that journeyed me into viewing life from a different lens. I started to think about what The Lord wanted to do with these tiny art messages that I enjoyed creating. I began to think about people differently. I  ask the Lord frequently to help me see and hear people from His perspective so that I may minister His love to them.

♥I think about the broken people others have forgotten about. There are so many angry, hurting, and lonely people in the world who just need an ear to listen to them.
Many children in the world are abandoned by their parents, raised by single parents, or have lost a parent through tragedy. Some children were never taught about the Love of God through Christ Jesus. Some of these hurting people will be the next generation who will have to run things when we get older.

Let’s be BOLD from this point on to pour the love of God to our communities and in the lives of these children who desperately need to know they are loved.  TRUST ME- they NEED to KNOW.

A father’s love in a child’s life is so vital. The enemy knows this and uses this as a tool to destroy children. Almighty God ( Daddy) is the best father because He is the Creator of Heaven & Earth.  He loves us with an everlasting love.

More people need to know they are loved with an everlasting love that is unshakeable and unbreakable.

♥I think about the times when I was an unbeliever and needed to know that God really loved me.  I think about all the people who will spend their eternity separated from God. This is a truth most people don’t want to acknowledge or accept. It would be unloving for me to keep this important detail of truth to myself. Whether a person wants to accept it or not, eternal separation from God is a serious matter that needs to be addressed.

Looking to Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of your faith for your answers is the most courageous step to take in understanding how to live a Godly life and share His messages. He will provide you with all your needs and refresh you in each season. Quite frankly, I lived a rough life and after having a near death experience in May 2019- at the tail end of my 30’s I am learning how to live my life biblical. I have not fully arrived, I make a lot of mistakes, and I am not where I would like to be in my walk –BUT God is so good, so patient, so kind, so merciful, and slow to anger. ( I am so grateful that He really knows me and gets me).

O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good; How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him.

I am expecting to see more of the Glory of the Lord as I continue to press into my God- given destiny.

May I encourage you to start boldly declaring the works of the Lord in your sphere of influence? The people God has positioned in your life need to hear your testimonies, they need to hear about how loving, merciful, and good God really is.

In part two of this blog article ( which will follow shortly after this one), I will share with you 14 examples of the most needed and desired people to share the Gospel with through your handmade stationery and greeting cards.

I am hopeful in prayer that this two part blog article inspires you to create stationery for the forgotten. May the Lord bless your hands to create for Him.

Sharing the Love of the Gospel Through Stationery Part 2

The Beginnings of Have Faith Stationery

The Beginnings of  having faith to walk on water

Have Faith Stationery was whispered to my heart when my family and I transitioned out of the military lifestyle. The years of dedication to our country has been the heart of our lives for almost a decade. During that time of service, my passion for creating meaningful messages amplified. If you take a moment to view my portfolio, this is just a small selection of greeting cards I have made over the years.

My family and I became born- again believers in Jesus Christ shortly after returning home from our duty station in Okinawa. Out of the many events in military life including several deployments; my family and I saw first hand the devastation from the 2011 tsunami in Japan. This event changed me personally. It was utterly terrifying to see this happen to a nation of people. I can’t articulate into words what I was thinking or feeling in the moment when my husband told me he was scheduled to go assist in the matter. At the time of this event, I believe that was the moment for me when I realized that my family and I needed eternal salvation. As I reflect on the events that happened on the island of Okinawa: I can not count how many times we were saved from spiritual matters, physical injury, and death.  I am so incredibly grateful that The Lord had angels on assignment for my household before we became His disciples.

Despite the tsunami event, I enjoyed the experiences and the life time opportunity for my family and I to have been there; for me, this duty station was a serious wake up call to repent of my sins and receive salvation in Christ.

Living on the island had it’s up’s and down’s, it took me a solid year to get settled back into the United States. While living in Okinawa, I experienced fear daily and felt plagued by it until The Lord Jehovah rescued me from it.  Although it took some time, I am reaping the benefits of being free in Christ because of true repentance. I wasn’t always this bold or courageous.

If you’ll let HIM, Jesus will teach you how to walk on water. Matthew 14:22-36

Having a platform to share the Gospel through stationery is just one of many ways Jesus is teaching me how to be a fisher of men and walk on water. I am excited to get my feet wet!

So the question you are probably asking yourself is:

What does this have anything to do with stationery?

A few seasons prior to receiving moving orders to  Japan I was personally assigned by a Family Readiness Officer to create a large quantity of greeting cards for the deployed.  Looking back at it where I am now in my art journey- this was just the beginning anointing from the Lord to do something with the artistic and creative talent He’s given me.  It’s beautiful to look back and see where I was and how far He’s taken me.

At the time of my first stationery assignment; I had very little interest in the matter, but after I got a hang of things I enjoyed making greeting cards. I realized quickly how financially expensive the materials could get and I wanted to start a card making club with other military wives on base called ” The Card Angels” . Unfortunately at the time there were other pressing matters in my life that prevented me from starting that club.

During my husband’s first deployment we were able to save enough money to purchase my first Cricut machine: The Cricut Expression!  In the beginning, I used my Cricut Expression to scrapbook my first son’s life. After I finished a few small albums, I was burnt out and really wanted to use the machine for other projects- which I will share later in other posts.

While stationed in Japan I started KLDesigns Boutique and I was asked to create custom invitations for The United States Marine Corps Mess Night Event, then several orders came in  from different Marine Corps units stationed in Okinawa. Please take a moment to visit my portfolio page to view all Military Stationery. My husband, a Former US Marine helped me design the Marine Corps stationery and from that point I used the skills I learned from basic art classes and began to create my own signature style. I learned how to do almost everything I needed to do to operate a business online, overseas, and manage my household all while my husband was on active duty. I am so thankful to have had that experience. Don’t get me wrong, I still make mistakes, however; those foundational mistakes have been carefully examined. Now I am able to focus on sharing what is important to God.

After I came to the Lord, He began to work on my heart about the direction I was going with KLDesigns Boutique and after much time it was clear that I needed a fresh start with a more meaningful purpose than just to make stationery for vanity. The Beginning of Have Faith Stationery birthed from letting KLDesigns Boutique die. It was a rough and dry season where I allowed myself to grieve over all the hard work I put into KLDesigns Boutique. Many miracles happened to my family and I during that time. I was able to tend to the more important matters in my life both physically and spiritually.

In order for a seed to grow, the seed must be put into the ground and for it to die then it becomes the crop it needed to be. For me, KLDesigns Boutique was the seed of a selfish en-devour to distract me from the real issues of life and it needed to be planted for it to die. Have Faith Stationery was given to me several seasons after I let the Lord deal with the issues of life.

I am so thankful that God blessed me with the continued desire to create stationery and use it for His Kingdom.

Having faith is more than a nice sentiment, it is the life blood of our lives. My family and I have faith because God doesn’t abandon, nor does He fail to provide for His people. I have seen God rescue and restore my family in miraculous ways. It is my hope that you will allow God to rescue and restore you. I started Have Faith Stationery to reach the lost and broken hearted because I too was once lost and broken hearted. Truth is everyone knows someone who is lost, who has a broken heart, or simply just needs a bit of encouragement.  I am hopeful that Have Faith Stationery blog brings a sense of encouragement to you as you journey through paper crafting and  in life.

This is just many of the Testimonies of how faithful God has been in my life and in the lives around me. Did you have a serious wake up call moment?  Please let me know in the comment section below.

May The Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless these hands to create unique stationery for an abundance of blessings into your lives and in the lives of whom you send those special messages to.

Please make sure to stay tuned for the new blog articles where I discuss the importance of Sharing the Gospel through stationery Part 1.

Many Blessings in the Messiah,

How to Make Quality Cards without Breaking Your Wallet

How to Make Quality Cards without Breaking your Wallet

Disclaimer: This is advice on how to navigate paper crafting with wisdom. In future posts I will have a little more detail on the products I have chosen to use, but I think this is a more important topic than the paper crafting products themselves.

How to Make Quality Cards without Breaking your Wallet

Be content with who you are & exercise self control

One of the first things I had to do with myself is become content with what I have and use self control. I don’t have the latest and greatest, but I have what I need to create stationery I like. I am happy with where I am in my journey and who God made me to be.

Before I became a believer in Christ, I over-indulged and didn’t use half of what I had.  Sometimes marketing makes you feel like you are missing out on the next big thing. Trust me: you’re not missing out on anything if you decide not to get that next die cut or stamp set on the market. It’s ok to say no and say no often.

Do your research

Do your research! Before I upgraded to the Cricut Expression 2, I waited until I returned to the United States and then I waited some more. Once I finally bought the Expression 2, I realized it wasn’t the right machine for me. By then I had advanced my computer skills and needed a machine to accommodate those skill sets.  I sold the Expression 2, then Cricut did something awesome and came out with the Cricut Explore Machine. Before I even decided to purchase the item I waited… and waited some more…. a few months later they released the Cricut Air machine.

Before I decided to buy the Cricut Explore I researched other companies that did the exact same thing. I realized since I invested so much of my time and money into the Provo Craft company, I didn’t want to invest in a different machine.

There are smaller consumable items like water color markers and inks that unfortunately did not work well for me.Some of those item I researched and some of the items I just wanted to try.  Although an item works well for someone else’s crafting needs they might not be the best for your specific artistic goals. So outside of doing research consider your skill level at the time and personal preferences.

I am not a glitter person so I don’t buy glitter, instead I found a product that gives a little shimmer without the mess.

Focus on Your Artistic Goals Not Fame or Vain Pursuits

God’s word says over and over that He is our provider and we should not worry about our life or what we will do and have. So I stopped worrying about what others were doing and focused on what God wants me to do with my time. I just stopped caring about all the products that will come out, all the new styles and techniques, and stayed content with the tools I really wanted to use. By doing so, I really was able to articulate and enjoy crafting as well as develop new skill sets.

There was a time when all of this went to my head before I gave my life to Christ. ( Truth be told: I wanted to be the next Hallmark- I talked about it all the time. I obsessed over social media status, creating better cards to outshine others, and obtaining more sales.) Now I am a completely different person. It took me some time and prayer to start a blog and open up shop again; however, I am confident that The Lord was able to fix the mess I caused without casualties. ( I have a right relationship with The Lord, I am secure and loved, my marriage is fantastic, and I am a great mom.)  All of the work you see on this blog and the skills took YEARS to develop.  Please don’t misunderstand,I don’t think I am better than anyone else- I have chosen not to let someone else’s success cloud my assessment of the abilities I have been given. For all the time I spent obsessing over being on the front listing pages of major search engines- I probably would have been a better artists. So in short, all this hoopla of fame and fortune is a waste of time and energy.

Please make sure not to put people on the pedestal of your heart. Not one person on this plane of existence can handle that much pressure. That place belongs to God.

Pray About it before you buy it !

The Lord cares for His creation. He wants to have an open dialog and personal relationship with His people. So talk with Him about your crafting goals and what season you are in. It’s very easy to get caught up in the moment at Michael’s or Joann Fabrics and buy a bunch of stuff you may not even need or use. Sometimes I look for certain items and it turns out the store doesn’t carry it. If I really need it, I will ask the Lord for the provision at a reasonable price. I rarely ever go to the store and buy in bulk unless there is a serious sale.

I pray every time I am in the parking lot. If this helps you this is what I pray about:

Heavenly Father- Help me to have self control while I am at the store. Please help my children listen and follow directions while we are there . Thank You Lord, Amen.

Pick Quality  Over Quantity

Ever since I was little my mother emphasized on the quality of something rather the quantity. I’d much rather pay a little more for quality than buy a quantity of something and end up with cheap looking results. I had to learn the hard way with certain stamp materials- not all stamps are created equally. However, there are exceptions to this concept. Currently I can afford puffy paint  for embellishments on the flowers I create.  The results are the same as the brand name liquid embellishment drops. I am comfortable with purchasing a large quantity of puffy paint to embellish my cards knowing the quality of my cards won’t be compromised. Personal preference.

Over the course of my artistic life, I had only purchased items that I wanted to try once or use continually. I still have ink pads from 7 years ago and will continue to have them until I can’t use them anymore. This is my mentality. Before I began paper crafting I did a lot of writing and sketching. Growing up in a single parent home I did not have everything I wanted and it truly made a positive impact on me as an adult, especially while navigating this hobby.

There was a time when I penny pinch so much I tried to re-invent the wheel of crafting. For example:  I have seen several videos on Youtube where the Cricut Explore Machine could use various thin markers to replace the Cricut specialty pens. I tried using the water based markers I own and a few of my fine liners and it was a bust. I spent more time researching for an adapter than enjoying my machine. Needless to say, the search for me was just a waste of time. I turned to husband in the parking lot at Michael’s and said-  Why am I going to reinvent what was already done by the company? I will just wait until we can afford to buy them.  I am glad I waited because I am not sure if I will need them.

Save Save Save

If you have an item on your list that you want to purchase but don’t have the funds right away. Please do your future self a favor and just save up for it.  As believer’s in Christ we are called to  “Owe no man except to love him in Christ Jesus.”

Don’t get yourself into credit card debt over craft supplies. It’s not worth it!

The Lord reminds me frequently that this is all just paper and I can tend to my life.

So to sum up all the preaching to myself as well as you….
