New Day to Shine! Z- Folded Handcrafted Stationery

It’s a New Day to Shine! Z- Folded Handcrafted Stationery

Earlier this month I shared a blog article featuring  Fire Engine Puppy Birthday Card with Matching Ribbon Made with the Cricut which the little boys in my life adored!  If you haven’t created it yet, make sure to add it to your Cricut Design Space projects to create. Please make sure to review my terms & conditions page for more information about creating projects I design in Cricut.

Happy Birthday To Me!

In  honor of my birthday, today’s blog article I will be sharing a quick and easy handcrafted  Z- folded greeting card that brings  birthday encouragement to any young lady or woman in your life. This greeting card can easily be transformed into any style by choosing different textures, pattern paper, color combinations, paper crafting techniques, and sentiments.

I have had Jen Hadfield’s  “Best of Meilleur D’ Homemade Pattern Paper Collection” for quite some time now and I find the best paper combination gems that go along with the stamp sets I already own. It is FABULOUS!

I used this same paper pad to create my prayer journal you can read that blog article here and create one of your own!

So grab your favorite pattern paper collection, stamps, and let’s start making some awesome greeting cards!

With just a few supplies you can make your own stationery for any occasion to Glorify God.

PRO STATIONERY TIP

Once you have gathered all of your paper crafting supplies for this project; make sure that everything coordinates well before assembly. Once you’ve stamped you can’t un-stamp and once you’ve glued it’s difficult to salvage a card.

A fellow well known card-maker takes pictures of her cards before she assembles them and makes it permanent. I have found this so helpful when adding multiple embellishments.

It's Your Day to Shine Z- Folded Greeting Card

Supplies Needed

  • Xyron adhesive machine ( Xyron creative or the Xyron X for tiny embellishments)
  • Advanced Tape Glider Adhesive or roll of double sided tape
  • Recollections Z-folded greeting card with matching envelope
  • Pattern Paper with coordinating sentiments and embellishments  Jen Hadfield Paper Pads
  • Thick card stock to stabilize embellishments
  • Favorite Ink pad to add dimension and interest
  • Favorite stamp sets from Paper Trey Ink :  PTI Bold Blossoms Vintage linens Peonies on Parade
  • Favorite sentiment stamp set: Stamp Simply Words of Encouragement
  • Markers of your choice
  • Ink dauber with applicator
  • black puffy paint
  • Spectrum Noir Sparkle Crystal Clear  Glitter Pen
Directions:

Stamp out each of your favorite images and color them to coordinate with the paper pad that you chose for this project. Once you have finished this step cut out the images and add any dimensions such as puffy paint or sparkle. Let the puffy paint dry for a few hours or even over night before adding the shimmer and adhering to the card.

To finish off your card: adhere your sentiments to thick card stock to give them stability and arrange them to your card design. Before I added the largest sentiment ” it’s a new day to shine”  I  used coordinating ink and inked the edges and added foam adhesive to the back for added dimension.

As you can see from the pictures the Z folded card has an added panel to add a message or more patterned paper. I chose to add coordinating pattern paper to tie everything together. On the inside of the greeting card I added a lovely message and sent it out.

As you can see from the pictorial slide show  you can use this same paper pad to create a similar birthday greeting using the flower as the focal point.

God will put certain people on your heart to send your lovely greeting cards to. He may even stretch you to send your greeting cards to people that might not treat you nicely.  Make the decision to be available for God to use your handcrafted cards to minister the love He has for them and You.

Fire Engine Puppy Birthday Card with Matching Ribbon Made with the Cricut

Fire Engine Puppy Birthday Card with Matching Ribbon Made with the Cricut

In last month’s blog article I shared with you a Milk & Cookie’s Greeting Card tutorial that features the CUTEST little milk and cookies greeting card design. I also shared two bonus blog articles entitled, New Feature for Have Faith Stationery  and  “When Handcrafted Meets Luxury: Japanese Washi Paper- Best Paper Investment.” If you haven’t read these articles please take a moment and read them.

In this month’s blog article I will share with you a greeting card tutorial I created from Cricut Design Space  for a child’s birthday card with matching birthday ribbon.  This is just the cutest birthday card set and my son just adored it! Over the years I have made plenty of sets like these that were a hit for each of my children.

With just a few supplies you can make your own stationery for any occasion to Glorify God.

Matching Fire Engine Birthday Card & Ribbon

Cricut Design Space File

Directions:

Using your Cricut Die-cutting machine cut out all the card stock according to the Design Space directions. Once all the card stock is cut; begin adhering each piece according to the placement in the die cut.

Remember you make awesome cards!

PRO STATIONERY TIP

There are some pieces that attach to the fire pup that are difficult to attach. Be patient with yourself . After many attempts; I chose to use a gold pen to color in a bell attached to the  red collar for the fire puppy.

Before adding the wheels to the fire truck, add the metallic brads first so that the wheels become interactive for the child. SUPER CUTE!

Adhere all the pieces to the card THEN embellish the puppy with puffy paint. Let dry overnight. I accidentally smudged my pup!

I hope you have enjoyed today’s Have Faith Stationery blog tutorial featuring this adorable Fire Engine Puppy Birthday Card with Matching Ribbon that I created in Cricut Design Space. When Handcrafted Meets Luxury: Japanese Washi Paper- Best Paper Investment

Handcrafted Meets Luxury: Japanese Washi Paper- Best Paper Investment

Thank you for visiting Have Faith Stationery, in today’s blog article I will be sharing with you my experience with Japanese Washi Paper and a short video showing you the process of how Japanese Washi Paper is made. Please make sure to watch the entire video. In my opinion the process is incredible and the investment has been worth it.

At the very beginning of my paper crafting and stationery journey; I was stationed overseas in Okinawa, Japan. You can read all about The Beginnings of Have Faith Stationery in one of my earlier blog articles. During my stay overseas, I met this wonderful and delightful Japanese shop owner who made traditional Geisha Obi’s for home decor and traditional wear. She carried the most luxurious textiles and papers I have ever seen in person. I can’t remember the name of her Boutique, however; she would have the cutest little Geisha origami greeting cards and stationery accessories along side of her handmade Geisha Obi dresses and home decor. I would visit her often and ask her about how she began making Obi’s. When she found out I created stationery with my Cricut she recommended that I invest in traditional Japanese Washi Paper and encouraged me to continue the art of paper making. This wonderful woman would share her life with me about how she started growing her handmade business and the connections she made with handcrafted artisans who painted these beautiful designs on the Washi Paper.

Paper making

Whether it is the process of making paper or paper crafting; this unique skill that starts off as a hobby becomes the livelihood for many. For many it can be the means to feed an entire family or a way to pass down skills for a future generation to survive.  God gives us gifts in all different forms to make up the body of Christ so that we serve one another in love. The investment I have made in purchasing these handcrafted papers, helped a community of people feed their family and pass down a skill for their legacy. How cool is that!

The connections we make when discussing life are memorable and worth cherishing.

I prayed through the paper cutting process, there were times I wanted to cry.

Before leaving Japan, I purposely invested in as much Japanese Washi Paper that I could afford at the time. The sheets are long and so beautiful. It took me a very LONG time ( years to be exact) to cut into the papers to make them more manageable to create with. I suppose I held onto these papers because I had such profound experiences in Okinawa, Japan – and- they are designed so beautifully. I prayed through the cutting process of these gorgeous designs and I have appreciated all the hard work that goes into the process of making Washi Paper.

What I Have Made with Washi Paper

When I first started using these papers I focused on Washi pencil’s, after a few test runs I decided that although they were nothing short of AMAZING- the pencil sharpeners would become dull after a few sharpens and it didn’t produce the quality results I hoped for.

I now focus most of my attention to making Japanese Stationery, Note Cards, Gift Tags, and Journals. Here are a few amazing samples of some items I created.

Eventually, these Japanese Washi Papers will need to be replenished, at that time I will showcase new designs and projects. For more ideas please visit my Portfolio Page

Pro Stationery Tip

When using Washi Paper be careful when handling this delicate paper. It tears very easily so use the sharpest scissors you have and go slow. Liquid Glue goes a long way, test a small amount on a scrap piece before completing a final project. I found that dry adhesive works best for me.

If you are cutting with the Cricut test several pieces of scrap before completing your project. Not all papers are the same thickness or quality so check the pressure settings. Too much pressure may either cut the paper too deeply causing a tear  and  too light of pressure may give the paper a kiss cut where the design doesn’t cut through at all.

I have experienced both and it is frustrating so take your time and walk away if you need to. There is always time to craft and figure out the settings later.

In the following video you will watch the process from start to finish on how Japanese Washi Paper is made and how this process brings community together. Although I have not met the original artists from which I purchased my Japanese Washi Paper from, I have enjoyed the luxurious feel of each sheet I have invested in.

Thank you for investing your time reading my blog article entitled When Handcrafted Meets Luxury: Japanese Washi Paper- Best Investment. I hope this was helpful and inspiring for you to use different papers in your card making. If you are not a card- maker but enjoy sending and receiving handcrafted greeting cards, I hope this article encourages you to invest in sending a bit of handcrafted luxury for your meaningful message to make lasting impressions.

Remember you too can create and send beautiful and luxurious stationery to Glorify God!

Milk and Cookies Cricut Greeting Card

Handcrafted Milk & Cookies Cricut Greeting Card

In last month’s blog article I share with you The Top 10  Requested Greeting Cards That Speak Volumes for Missionaries. If you haven’t read the article please take a moment to read it. In this months blog article I will share with you an adorable thinking of you Cricut greeting card that is just delightful to handcraft and share with the children in your life.

When I created this greeting card in Cricut Design Space, I didn’t have a die cut of a cookie so I created one out of die cuts I already paid for from previous cartridges. It is really simple to create a die cut of your own through Cricut Design Space.  To make a chocolate cookie die cut all you need is a large circle with several tiny circles then weld or punch the scalloped edge to the circle. You will see from the Design Space File that it is a print then cut file. If you don’t want to print this file and you would rather cut you are welcome to do so.

Continue to follow along with today’s tutorial and enjoy creating!

With just a few supplies you can make your own stationery for any occasion to Glorify God.

Handcrafted Milk & Cookies Greeting Card

Cricut Design Space

  • Cricut Design Space Cut File
  • Cricut Explore, Cricut Explore Air, or Cricut Maker Machine ( Cricut Design Space)
  • For the smaller pieces I used a two- way Zig glue pen.
  • Xyron adhesive machine ( Xyron creative or the Xyron X for tiny embellishments)
  • Printer with color ink for Cricut Machine Print then Cut feature
  • Yellow or orange card stock ( card base )
  • Pale yellow or light orange card stock
  • Light blue card stock
  • Medium blue card stock
  • White card stock
  • Peachy Keen Stamp of  your choice
  • White gel pen
  • Glossy accents

Directions:

Using your Cricut Die-cutting machine cut out all the card stock according to the Design Space directions. Once all the card stock is cut; begin adhering each piece according to the placement in the die cut. For the milk bottle I used Glossy Accents to make the straw shinny and stamped a cute Peachy Keen smile stamp face on the white card stock. In my opinion Peachy Keen Stamps are perfect embellishment for die cuts on children and youth greeting cards. If you don’t have all the supplies listed, have the liberty to play with your design.

Remember you make awesome cards!

Pro Stationery Tip

When working with glossy accents, make sure to assemble all the pieces together before adding glossy accents to your project . It is also a great idea to allow the project to dry from an hour to over night depending on the size of the project and how much glossy accents is applied.

Cricut Design Space Greeting Card File

In today’s blog article I will be sharing a free handcrafted Cricut Cut File that features a masculine take on a traditional birthday card. This greeting card can easily be transformed into any style by choosing different textures, pattern paper, color combinations, and paper crafting techniques.

With just a few supplies you can make your own stationery for any occasion to Glorify God. Your handsome birthday card can be sent out to young boys and men in your sphere of influence. Consider every day as a great day to encourage someone who may feel discouraged.

While many in this world choose to tear down the very essence of boyhood and manhood-

let us choose to build them up!

Encourage one another and build each other up.  1 Thessalonians 5:11

Masculine Birthday Cricut Design Space Greeting Card

Supplies Needed

  • Cricut Design Space Cut File
  • Cricut Explore, Cricut Explore Air, or Cricut Maker Machine ( Cricut Design Space)
  • Xyron adhesive machine ( Xyron creative or the Xyron X for tiny embellishments)
  • Pre-scored and pre-cut greeting card (I use recollections works great in printers)
  • Masculine pattern paper
  • Dark blue card stock
  • Light blue card stock
  • Dark yellow/ orange card stock
  • Light yellow/orange card stock
  • Black or dark grey ink pad
  • Ink dauber with applicator
  • Red/orange marker
  • Glossy accents

Directions:

Using your Cricut Die-cutting machine cut out all the card stock according to the Design Space directions. Once all the card stock is cut; begin adhering each piece according to the placement in the die cut.  For the background pattern paper, I added a smoky inked effect. If you wanted to go another route, you could use a masculine embossing folder to jazz up a grungy look.  Have the liberty to play with your design.

Remember you make awesome cards!

For the smaller pieces I used a two- way Zig glue pen. After embellishing the tips of the birthday candles with the marker I added glossy accents and let dry overnight.

* Please note that the original cut file included the greeting card base with rounded corners and an envelope. I chose to use Recollections from Michael’s card bases because I didn’t care for the rounded corners for this card design. Please have the liberty to enjoy using whatever paper crafting supplies you have.

I am hoping to create more masculine stationery because I believe that we need to pour out the love of Christ to the men and young boys in our lives and communities.

Ladies, the men and boys in the world need our support.

  • Young boys and young men need to be showered with praise when other’s are tearing them down.
  • They need encouragement when their friends decide they don’t want to sit with them at lunch.
  • They need more of our love when others belittle them or disengage from them for their faith in Jesus.

At the end of the day it is our God-given responsibility to shower them with endless love because Christ loves us.

So let us be the passionate card-makers that we are for the boys and men in our lives and encourage them to keep on keeping on!

Walk Through Prayer Journal Made with the Cricut Explore Air Machine

Walk Through Prayer Journal Made with the Cricut Explore Air Machine

Have you ever wanted to keep track of your prayer life? Create your personal Prayer Journal with just a few supplies!

In today’s blog article I will share with you a pictorial walk through of my prayer journal made with the Cricut Explore Air and the Design Space File to create your very own Prayer Journal!

The Cricut Design Space file is quite large and this project will take you some time.  I  home school my children so I had to break it up into a span of a week or so (give or take). I think I started with printing and cutting first then I laminated each section last. Although it is time consuming it is worth it especially if you are serious about documenting your prayer life and journey with Jesus Christ. The only thing I think I would change about the process would be to have it spiral bound rather than in a binder.

Walk Through Prayer Journal Made with the Cricut Explore Air Machine

Supplies Used

Paper Pack 12×12  Jen Hadfield  Best of Meilleur D’ Mejor De ( Paper pad unavailable for purchase)

Michaels 110lb  white card stock

Michaels 65lb white cardstock

Epson Workforce 3620 printer

Cricut Air Machine

Cricut Design Space Prayer Journal File

Scotch Laminator with pouches

Xyron Machine Adhesive

3 Hole punch

White Binder

Notebook filler paper

Quick Tip: Before attaching the label to the journalling sections and laminating the paper, adhere some double sided tape on the back of the scrapbook paper to keep the alignment straight .  This extra step is tedious but you will be happy with the results in the end.

Handmade Journals are my Jam!

As far back as I can remember, I would spend hours in my journal creating a variety of entries: poems, songs, doodling, and writing ideas down. Before e-readers became the BIG thing there was a place called ” Barnes and Nobles.” I would save up cash to purchase my favorite leather bound journals and collect them. Each journal had it’s purpose and it was so luxurious to have my own leather journal from Italy or France.

I am a prayer warrior and I really enjoy keeping record of where God’s hands are moving in my life. This prayer journal was inspired by fellow Cricut paper Crafter named Staci Williams. She posted a video a few years about how to create your own prayer journal. I personalized my own and over time it transformed into what I am sharing with you today. You can visit her blog  “Love that Bug” .

Through this journaling style I have been able to articulate my prayer life that is successful and effective. I am also closer to The Lord because I can just sit down and be quiet.  By journaling my prayers, I can have an open conversation with my Lord about what is really going on in my life that concerns me. Scripture says: If we draw close to Him, He will draw near to us. By drawing near to Him, I have seen so many prayers answered. I believe this tool has been so valuable that it sometimes gets overlooked in the community of believers.

Making journals and writing in them have always interested me. Sure, I can just go to the store and purchase a journal and notebooks to store all of these wonderful entries, but I have a lot of enjoyment creating things with my hands and technology. One day I will make my own leather bound journal, it’s on my bucket list!

I have been looking for an affordable and creative way to create keepsakes of all my prayer journal entries as well as bible study notes. I really want to make sure that I am going to consistently use the binding tool before I purchase it. If you happen to have a binding tool for your journals, please comment below. If you need advice about how to navigate paper crafting please take a moment to read my previous blog article ” How to Make Quality Cards without Breaking your Wallet.”

With just a few paper crafting supplies you can create something beautiful to glorify God. If you have any questions about today’s Cricut Design Space File please feel free to contact me or comment below.

I hope today’s blog article was a blessing to you and inspired you to dive deep into your prayer life.

Many Blessings,

Kristal DeBold
